This space is a recent effort at maintaining a digital garden. It’s fresh and will be consistently grown.
Current Focus #
I’m looking for the right role — the next problem- / solution-space to direct my attention to for the long-term. Small, strong teams where the business thrives on impactful work put in by passionate people; a deeply technical IC role in a place that cares about the quality of its systems. I’m particularly interested in distributed systems, networks, and the kind of engineering where taste is not a dirty word.
In the meantime, I’ve been finishing the Songs of the OCaml Compiler series — a three-part write-up on building a Paxos consensus simulator in OCaml and what the type system forced me to reconsider — alongside some consulting work Most recently, was working on auditing the architecture of an R&D spin-off in the local robotics industry, giving clarity on how to model their data and control planes better as they scaled their operations as part of a Sino-Singapore effort. If you’re a non-profit that needs guidance or architectural audits, please reach out! I wish to keep this as at least a probono-side commitment alongside my main focus. on Software Architecture and other cultural projects These warrant a blog post of their own \(\ldots\) will put them up soon . This comes after transitioning out of a Technical Founder I co-founded Perkpal, a local marketing-tech startup where we were helping distributor-reliant brands have better visibility into their early adopters and form direct relationships with them via physical/digital perks embedded onto physical spaces or things. It was an extremely eventful experience, where we landed clients from around South-East Asia, many of whom were operating across multiple markets and also interfaced with some enterprise giants. I play an advisory role now since it’s primarily sales-led. role at the end of 2025.
Previous Focus #
Late 2025 — March 2026: Software Architecture advisory in robotics, physical AI space – data plane design, control plane architecture with an actor-model, sensor pipelines, digital twins.
Q3- 2024 — Late 2025: Technical Co-founder at Perkpal Built the core product 0-to-1: full-stack, infrastructure, integrations. Small team, high ownership. , a marketing-tech platform. Built the product from scratch, felt the sweetness of having positive cash-flow distilled from the typical chaos of a bootstrapped business.
May 2024 — June 2024: Walked away from an exciting new job from a NYC based company after a month when it became clear the product direction and engineering culture weren’t aligned with how I work.
Jan 2022 — April 2024 : Software engineer at OutPoint (acquired) Marketing attribution tooling for DTC brands. Joined early, contributed to the engineering that carried the company to acquisition. , a marketing attribution company that offerred a Media Mix Modelling product (MLOps platform for media-spend analysis). Explored Toronto, fell in love with the Canadian Rockies too.
July 2023: Completed my Bachelor’s Degree – Honours with Distinction. Specialisations in Security and Software Engineering. Also did an exchange at the University of Toronto for 2 semesters while working full-time at OutPoint.
~2019: Wrote my first official
hello worldwhen I matriculated into the Computer Science degree programme at National University of Singapore. Did a whole lot of distro-ricing and TOR-rabbit-holing on the side as a freshman until my NAS got hacked What matters is that this made me take security more seriously. In reality, my explorations and experiments had nothing to do with me getting hacked, but I wouldn’t have known at that point in time anyway because I didn’t know enough. That’s why I ended up specialising in Computer Security in my undergrad years as well. The coolest of the courses in that track focused on Malware Analysis where we did malware disassembly – kudos to the ingenuity of hackers (regardless of the colour of their hat). and I learned to be better.

Email is best to reach me: hello@rtshkmr.com.
Always great to sign your emails, typically gets instant replies from me.
I am on Codeberg (recently active) and have some old repos @ Github. Field testing some self-hosted forgejo sessions, will update this eventually. I’m also occasionally active on LinkedIn. My handle, rtshkmr “riteshkumar” without the vowels , seems to be unique enough so it’s usually the handle for most platforms.
